Flight Test Pilot

Competence Level 2

This course will develop the skills for the effective delivery of complex flight test programmes and to assist with experimental test flying programmes on CS-23 aircraft. Graduates will be equipped with a thorough technical understanding to perform the methodical evaluation required of today’s advanced air platforms. Course content covers the full range of test techniques required for practically assessing the performance to specification of aircraft and will provide graduates with the ability to plan, operate and report on multifaceted appraisal exercises.

  • LBA approved under EASA Part-FCL.820 and the relevant AMCs

  • 19 weeks

  • 150+ Theoretical Instruction and 50+ Flight / FSTD hours

  • A minimum of seven different aeroplane types will be flown during the course. Please refer to our fleet page for a selection of possible aircraft.

  • This course has been developed to enable high performing pilots to attain a developmental flight test rating to deliver test and evaluation throughout the platform lifecycle. It is recommended that students have at least 500 hours experience as pilot in command before attending this course.

  • Applicants should hold at least a CPL and an IR in the appropriate aircraft category and have completed at least 1 000 hours of flight time in the appropriate aircraft category, of which at least 400 hours as PIC.
